This August we are fortunate to be able to introduce you to a SEK-Qatar Alumni member, Valeria Mazzei. She tells us about how she started her new proyect and how school contributed to his personal and professional development.

What year to what year were you at SEK and what years did you study?

I have been a SEK student from 2015 to 2019 where I attended Grade 9 until Grade 12.

What memories do you have of your time at SEK?

I have found an incredibly supportive community and super friendly teachers that I could count on. In addition, the diversity amongst the students introduced me to different cultures that definitely allowed me to grow as an international citizen of the world.

What did you go on to do when you finished your studies?

As soon as I entered SEK, I have also started my own business when I was 16 years old as I wanted to explore more my passions and skills. Therefore, when I graduated, I took a gap year to develop even further my business that through the years transformed in a small successful registered company here in Qatar. It’s like my entrepreneurial journey grew simultaneously with my own personal growth!

How did you decide to start your own business and what is the experience like?
I have always been a person that cannot have any “boring” moment and that’s why I am always up to something! My business Venus Karma Clothing and Venus Karma Beauty allowed me to master the skills of time management and leadership as well as being able to apply in my real life entrepreneurial situations what I have learnt during IB! Thus, I strongly recommend students to engage in a side experience that allow them to grow and find their passion at a young age.
